The 30‑year concession will streamline cargo movement and boost AM/NS India’s operational efficiency.
The Paradip Port Authority (PPA) has formally granted an award of concession to AMNS Paradip Logistics Private Ltd (APLPL), a special‑purpose vehicle of AM/NS India, for mechanisation of Central Quay (CQ)‑III berth to handle dry bulk cargo on a captive basis with a capacity of 10 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).
The award was presented by Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, to Deepak Arora, Chief of Corporate Affairs, AM/NS India, in Paradip, Odisha, on August 21.
“The award marks a significant milestone in AM/NS India’s journey to strengthen logistics capabilities and modernise port operations. It reaffirms the company’s commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and partnership in building Paradip into a global maritime gateway,” a company statement said.
The move aligns with the Central Government’s policy to promote coastal shipping as a fuel‑efficient, economical, and environment‑friendly mode of transport. The 30-year concession will ensure seamless cargo movement and enhance operational efficiency of AM/NS India, a joint venture between leading global steelmakers ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel.
The arrangement will enable APLPL to handle iron‑ore pellet shipments through a fully mechanised conveyor system directly connected from AM/NS India’s pellet plant complex to the berth at PPA. Coastal shipping of iron‑ore pellets from Paradeep to Hazira by AM/NS India is already an established environmentally sustainable mode of transport.
