Hyd mosque gets 2.81 cr to part with land for road widining

The Greater Hyderagbad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has paid Rs Rs 2.81 crore to the Green Mosque or Masjid-e-Hussaini to acquire its 333 square yards at the rate of Rs 84,500 per square yard, which is the highest rate of compensation paid for land acquired for the purpose of road widening in Hyderabad.

To complete the land deal, the GHMC took the consent of Mosque Muthawalli and also obtained an NoC from the Andhra Pradesh State Wakf Board. In all, a cheque for Rs 2.81 crore has been issued to the mosque land after taking into consideration the government land value on Road No 2 of Banjara Hills. This land is abutting the main road.

By utilising the acquired land, work to widen the road will commence within a week, the civic body said. There are other owners who are still holding out. Municipal officials are holding negotiations for acquisition of portions of land belonging to Punja-gutta Smashana Vatika and a temple located near LV Prasad Eye Institute, and a couple of private properties.
