Demand and supply only control cement prices: Govt
The control over price and distribution of cement has been removed since 1989. The industry was de-licensed in 1991 under the policy of economic liberalisation. Cement has also been removed from the list of essential commodities. Thus, presently the prices of cement are governed by the market forces of demand and supply.
Infrastructure output in Oct down by 0.6%
The Union government's data on December 2 showed that country's infrastructure sector output fell 0.6 per cent year-on-year in October mainly on lower natural gas and coal production, after growing at its fastest clip in one year the previous month. Output grew at 8 per cent in September.
Pune development plan gets nod
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) approved the draft for the revised city development plan (CDP) for 2041 as per the central government mandate to receive funds under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). The central government will soon roll out the second phase of JNNURM and civic bodies selected as beneficiaries were told to prepare CDPs to avail of the benefits

PVP College of Architecture and a citizensÂ’ Group has recommended several measures to transform Aundh in Pune into a smart locality. The Group has submitted its proposals to the Pune Municipal Corporation urging it to implement its recommendations.
Govt to miss targets to complete big infra projects
For the current financial year, the government will not meet its infrastructure investment target as hardly any progress made in five of the nine projects identified by the Planning Commission in consultation with the Prime Minister's Office.
UP govt sets deadline for JNNURM projects
Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Jawed Usmani on November 12 stated that he has asked authorities of the Urban Development Department to ensure that various projects under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) are completed by the end of current financial year.
New real estate projects stalled in Chennai
As the Chennai traffic authorities declined to give no-objection certificates, large and high-end real estate projects coming up in the heart of the city have been stalled. With this, several hundred crores, including bank debts are stuck and interest costs mounting due to the delay.
Infrastructure status to Hotel projects
The Centre has extended 'infrastructure' status for all hotel projects, fulfilling a long-pending demand of large hoteliers. This means projects with a capital cost of Rs 200 crore or more will be able to access cheaper funds. The Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) said factoring in the contemporary trends in development costs.
