During a meeting of the Special Task Force (STF), the Andhra Pradesh State Chief Secretary PK Mohanty suggested Hyderabad Metro Rail to prepare a master plan for future rail extensions.
In order to meet the future needs of fast expanding city, Mohanty suggested the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority Commissioner NK Prasad and Hyderabad Metro Rail Managing Director NVS Reddy to develop a Master Plan for future Metro Rail extensions.
Mohanty suggested the adoption of an integrated Transit Oriented Development approach.
The meeting was conducted to review the progress the metro rail project. He urged authorities to secure the right of way wherever it is possible.
The government is keen to integrate Metro Rail, Multi Modal Transport Systems, Main Rail, national and state highways and major bus depots.
Meanwhile, the metro rail project is going ahead at a fast pace and so far 780 foundations (21 km), 625 pillars (17.5 km), 3,700 segments (sufficient for 11 km) have been completed and elevated viaduct has been erected over 4.5 km. This information was given by Reddy during the meeting.
According to a statement, he mentioned that 70 per cent of Uppal depot works and 40 per cent of Miyapur depot works have also been completed.
