As part of its ambitious 9.7 million tonne per annum expansion project in its Jamshedpur facility, Tata Steel commissioned a new coke oven battery No 10 and by-product plant.
During the event, Union Steel Minister, Beni Prasad Verma was present. The coke oven battery has a capacity of 0.7 million tonne per annum.
According to a company press release, this would improve the financial viability of the steel works significantly. The plant would go into full production in the month of December 2012, the release said.
SAIL chairman, CS Verma, Steel secretary DRS Choudhary, Tata Steel MD HM Nerurkar were present among others when Verma commissioned the plant.
