India’s largest steel maker Steel Authority of India (SAIL) is implementing modernisation and expansion plan at its five integrated steel plants in Bhilai, Bokaro, Rourkela, Durgapur and Burnpur and at the special steel plant in Salem. The mega project is intended to increase capacity of crude steel from 12.84 million tonne per annum (mn tpa) to 21.4 mn tpa.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the state-run company wants to engage contractors for the following purpose. The company is looking out for a contractor who can provide independent DC source in turbo blower station 1 to 6 at Bokaro Steel Plant. Also, it wants to engage a contractor for expansion or modification of burn ward in the steel plant and for procuring complete power illumination system and other equipments. Further, the company wants to rope in a contractor who can provide vertical centrifugal pump and motor.
