Oil India continues to be the second largest national oil and gas company in the country in terms of total proved plus probable oil and natural gas reserves and production for the year 2011-12, SK Srivastava, the company’s Chairman and Managing Director said.

The firm increased its share in the country’s total crude oil production to 10 percent in 2011-12, from 9.6 percent in the previous financial year. Its natural gas production also increased 12 percent during 2011-12. At this level, its share in the nation’s total natural gas production has increased from 4.5 percent in 2010-11 to 5.1 percent in the current year, he said while addressing shareholders of the company in the latest Annual General Meeting.

Meanwhile, the company plans to engage a contractor for major overhauling and commissioning of two units at its Assam facility. Also, the company plans to procure lube oil and other materials at its Duliajan facility in Assam. Separately, the company wants to avail of the service of a contractor for supply, installation and commissioning of bone densitomete.

Besides, it seeks the service of a contractor for exploration of high viscous heavy oil in Bikaner Bagaur basin in the north west of Rajasthan province at Jodhpur.
