In a major step towards rejuvenating the River Godavari and improving urban sanitation, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has appointed CS TECH Ai as the project management consultant (PMC) for its ambitious city-wide sewage treatment programme. The contract, awarded under the public-private partnership hybrid annuity model (PPP-HAM), is valued at ₹58.1 million.

The comprehensive initiative aims to modernise and streamline Nashik’s sewage infrastructure, covering the overhaul of major treatment plants, the construction of new sewer lines, and long-term operations management.

As PMC, CS TECH Ai will oversee project planning, contractor coordination, quality control, milestone verification and ongoing performance monitoring.

“Managing infrastructure on this scale means aligning data, timelines and outcomes,” said Prashant Kamat, CEO, CS TECH Ai. “Our role is to ensure Nashik’s vision translates into tangible, measurable results, not just during execution, but over the next two decades.”

The project is structured under NMC’s ‘One City One Operator’ model, consolidating the operations and management of four major sewage treatment plants, namely Tapovan (180 million litres per day), Agartakli (97 and 70 MLD), Chehadi (64 MLD) and Panchak (75 MLD). It also includes a decentralised membrane bioreactor unit, upgrades to 27 pumping stations, and the installation of new rising mains and gravity sewers city-wide.

To enable real-time oversight, a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA)-enabled central command centre will be established at the NMC headquarters, facilitating integrated system-wide monitoring and control.

CS TECH Ai will also supervise operations and maintenance for the next 25 years, ensuring all performance targets align with the National Green Tribunal (NGT) guidelines.

This initiative forms part of Nashik’s broader push towards sustainable urban development. It is designed to meet future requirements, including large-scale events such as the Kumbh Mela, while strengthening the city’s environmental and public health safeguards.
