Cargo handling is likely to go up significantly at Visakhapatnam port with the authorities deciding to issue work order to Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) for dredging in the northern arm. DCI has submitted the bids for the Rs 32-crore contract along with Dharti Dredging and Infrastructure. The project, which is the last phase of dredging in the inner harbour after increasing the draft in the outer harbour, will enable arrival of panamax ships without lightening.
