Union Budget 2013-14 allocated Rs 3,120 crore to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for the construction of Metro Phase III. This is higher than the Rs 2,200 crore outlay that the corporation received in 2012-13. The Phase III project has seven corridors covering nearly 140 km of the city and it is touted as the largest expansion project by the DMRC so far. DMRC feels that the allocation would expedite the construction of the line.
