A foot overbridge (FoB) is to come up at Hero Honda Chowk in Gurgaon to ease movement of thousands of pedestrians and two-wheeler drivers crossing the Chowk. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is all set to give the final nod to the proposed foot overbridge (FoB). NHAI and the Public Works Department (PWD), which will construct the FoB, held a meeting recently.
AK Sharma, NHAI project director, Gurgaon, said that they have forwarded the detailed project report (DPR) of the FoB to the NHAI head office and hope to get approval within a week.
As soon as NHAI gets the approval, funds will be fransferred to the PWD from NHAI for the FoB construction. The NHAI and Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) will share the cost of the FoB — around Rs 2.5 crore each. The NHAI is the custodian of the expressway. If the NHAI gives nod, Huda will also give its approval and transfer fund to PWD, said a senior Huda engineer.
The 5-metre-wide FoB will have enough space for pedestrians and two-wheelers. As many as 234 accidents have taken place on the expressway between January and May 15 this year, in which 146 pedestrians were involved.
