The government is rationalising and consolidating the existing norms on the investment of excess cash by the Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs). A committee appointed to review the investment norms for CPSEs submitted its report the finance ministry. The ministry is expected to take a final call on the report and release the revised guidelines. The move to review the guidelines comes in the wake of reports that the CPSEs are going slow on deploying their surplus cash on expansion projects. Government expects CPSEs to deploy their surplus cash on new projects in order to kick-start investment cycle in the economy.
