To promote renewable energy projects further in the state, Gujarat government has demanded more Central assistance and incentive through policy changes. The State government is heavily focusing on the solar and other renewable energy power generation. The request to the Union government was made at the Power Minister’s Conference held at New Delhi on February 5.
Gujarat’s Energy & Petrochemical Minister raised several issues affecting the state’s energy sector in the power minister’s conference. The Minister said that the State has demanded a higher level of capital/generation based subsidy should be provided to rooftop based solar power projects to encourage more and more people to participate.
A uniform renewable purchase obligation as percentage of consumption is prescribed across the nation. He also suggested several policy and administrative reforms to encourage renewable sector. Gujarat government has also demanded subsidy to gas-based power generation projects of the state as like the union government gives for the use of gas in fertiliser production.
