Helping the flood victims

In an initiative to express solidarity with the flood-ravaged Uttarakhand state, Airports Authority of India (AAI) extends round-the-clock operations facility at Jolly Grant Airport in an excellent coordination between AAI, State Government of Uttarakhand and the Indian Air Force to enable seamless flow of choppers, aircraft and ground operations for the relief operations in the natural calamity hit state.

AAI mobilised its infrastructure to extend the help for efficient and smooth operations at this small airport having limited resources. In a bid to enhance the search and rescue operations from the Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun, aircraft movements ranging from 53 on 18 June to 120 as on date were handled successfully through optimum utilisation by AAI officials working round-the-clock. In addition to various camps set up around the airport including that of state government, AAI has also set up a Help Desk-cum-Relief Camp to extend emergency services for the flood victims and provide possible help and cooperation to the passengers, their relatives and well-wishers at the airports. AAI has waived off the landing parking charges for relief flights operation through this airport. The flights of the VIPs who visited the flood affected area include Prime Minister, Chairperson of UPA, Vice-President of UPA, Chief Ministers of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana, Home Minister of Maharashtra, Secretary (Home) and Secretary (Defence). The calamity took place on 17 June and AAI team came into action extending all assistance and started Help Desk -cum-Relief Camp on 18 June itself.

AAI employees extend their helping hand to the natural calamity victims of Uttarakhand by contributing one-day salary (approximately Rs 3.20 crore), setting up Relief Camp-cum-Help Desk and round-the-clock operations at Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun. Expressing their solidarity with the people of flood-ravaged state of Uttrakhand, AAI employees have decided to contribute one day salary towards Prime Minister Relief Fund. A cheque for an amount of about Rs 3.20 crore is being sent towards contribution to the Prime Minister Relief Fund in aid of the relief operations to help the devastated towns and villages of the flood affected State.
