HPCL, a Navratna company, is making huge investments in clean fuel projects to meet the Bharat Stage-III & BS-IV fuel specifications to reduce vehicular pollution.
HPCL General Manager ASV Ramanan said flue gas desulphurisation units had been added to reduce sulphur dioxide and particulate matter contents in the fluidised catalytic cracking unit (FCCU). Online analysers had been provided for monitoring various pollutant concentrations in stack emissions. Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations had been provided in three locations in Visakh Refinery for monitoring the ground level concentrations of various pollutants.
