HPCL and GAIL India Ltd have signed a pact with Andhra Government for setting up a Rs 40,000 crore petrochemical plant in the state. The 50:50 joint venture will set up a 1.5 MT ethylene derivatives plant, which will produce a wide range of petrochemical raw materials for the manufacture of detergents, paints and coatings, cosmetics, textiles and adhesives.
Engineers India has bagged orders from HPCL for execution of the Vizag Refinery Modernisation Project (VRMP). EIL will execute the project contract under two separate contracts, PMC Services for major Process Units and packages under U&O and Execution of U&O and PRU Revamp on Open Book Estimate (OBE) Basis.

An expert panel has begun work on drafting a blueprint for raising IndiaÂ´s oil refining capacity by 2040 with a view to not just meet demands of the fast expanding economy, but also to capture the export market. The 12-member Working Group for preparing an Approach Paper for enhancing refining capacity by 2040 held its first meeting on June 27, officials said.

The Maharastra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has complained to state Legal Metrology Department (LMD), accusing HPCL, BPCL and IOC of Â´short deliveryÂ´. Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of MSRTC Vineet Agrawal said a complaint was lodged with LMD on September 19.
