Recently, union shipping Minister GK Vasan signed an agreement with his counterpart in Vietnam for strengthening cooperation in the maritime sector between both the countries.
Vasan signed the pact with Minister of Transport of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Dinh La Thang during the former’s six-day visit to the country.
Reports indicate that officials from both the countries are evolving a concrete roadmap for cooperation in the sector.
The ministers discussed ways and means to strengthen cooperation in the maritime sector between India and Vietnam, especially in areas such as shipping, ship-building and repair, ports management, ports security and safety, connectivity, human resource development and training and inland waterways.
During the visit, Vasan is learnt to have inspected inland waterways and navigation systems.
