The collaboration is expected to reduce the time lag in adopting new solar innovations in India and support the broader goal of enhancing domestic technological capabilities.
Inox Solar Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Inox Clean Energy Ltd, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hong Kong-based LONGi Trading to supply up to 5 GW of solar modules over the next three years for the Indian market. LONGi is a global leader in solar technology and a key player in advancing high-efficiency photovoltaic solutions.
As part of the partnership, Inox Solar will work closely with LONGi to align with internationally benchmarked manufacturing and quality standards. The collaboration is expected to reduce the time lag in adopting new solar innovations in India and support the broader goal of enhancing domestic technological capabilities.
Commenting on the development, Devansh Jain, Executive Director, INOXGFL Group, said, “We are committed to supporting India’s ambition of becoming a self-reliant solar manufacturing hub. Collaborations such as this are vital in bringing global technology and quality benchmarks to the domestic industry.”
China remains the world’s largest supplier of solar modules, with a manufacturing capacity of approximately 990 GW as of mid-2025. Since 2014, India has increased its domestic solar module manufacturing capacity by over 4,600 per cent—from 2.3 GW to 110 GW—reflecting strong policy support and rising demand.
Domestic Capacity Ramp Up
Inox Solar has already commenced production at its solar module manufacturing facility in Bavla, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, with an initial capacity of 1.2 GW. The facility is set to scale up to 3 GW as part of its second-phase expansion in the coming weeks. In parallel, Inox Solar is establishing an integrated 5 GW solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Dhenkanal, Odisha.
Kailash Tarachandani, Group CEO for Renewables, INOXGFL Group, added, “Aligning with a global leader like LONGi allows us to accelerate our journey toward manufacturing excellence. This partnership will help ensure that the Indian market continues to have access to advanced and competitive solar technologies.”
Frank Zhao, President, LONGi Asia Pacific, stated, “LONGi is dedicated to working with multiple partners across India to drive clean energy adoption. Through knowledge sharing and technical cooperation, we aim to support the growth of high-quality solar manufacturing in the region, in line with India’s renewable energy goals.”
Pablo González, Head of Strategic Accounts, India & APAC, LONGi, added, “This partnership is an essential step in accelerating India’s renewable energy goals and delivering sustainable, impactful solutions.”
By sharing expertise and global best practices, LONGi aims to strengthen its ties with local partners and deliver high-performance, reliable solar products.
