The Shiradi Ghat road stretch on Mangalore-Bangalore national highway in Karnataka will become motorable before the next monsoon if the work on the stretch goes as per the plan. The Union government has sanctioned Rs 94 crore for the road project.
The State Minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology B Ramanatha Rai said on December 10 that the Centre has sanctioned Rs 94 crore for the development of Shiradi Ghat road stretch, which is at present in a pathetic condition.
The Minister added that very soon the tender process will commence and works will be awarded to bidders. All major and minor repair works on Shiradi Ghat will be taken up. Concreting, asphalting or pothole-filling work will be taken up depending on the condition of the road, the Minister said.
