Kerala PWD blames Water Authority for bad roads

The Kerala Public Works Department has been blamed by the Kerala Water Authority for the bad roads in Kochi city, especially, the Ernakulam-Ettumanor road which is under the direct control of the PWD roads and bridges wing.

The PWD submitted an affidavit in this regared to the State High Court. It said that the road was maintained properly by the PWD till the digging of the road by the KWA for laying drinking water pipeline. An extent of 3.5 km from SN junction to Kurikkal was ordered to be dug out for pipeline work.

The estimated cost for the restoration is Rs 3.65 crore, out of which only Rs 1.75 crore has been remitted by the KWA and Rs 1.90 crore was due from them, submitted the PWD, adding that it has initiated restoration works which will be completed immediately after the work of KWA.
