BWNC meet in Sept to settle port & dock workers wage issue

The Union government-owned major ports’ management representatives have taken rigid stand over consolidation of pension consequent upon the revision of wages w.e.f January first 2012 & fixation of pay on promotion including in case of financial up-gradation under MACP Scheme.

Meeting of the Bipartite Wage Negotiation Committee (BWNC) constituted for revision of wages of Port & Dock Workers working in 11 major Ports of country held on 21-22 August 2013 at New Delhi. The meeting of BWNC remains unconclusive and will again meet on 19-20 September 2013 at Delhi.

The Federations insisted that the wages of Port & Dock Workers were revised for five years w.e.f January 2007 & 23 per cent fitment was granted. Meanwhile the five federations have submitted joint representation to Minister of Shipping GK Vasan informing about statement in the matter in the BWNC and requested him to intervene in the matter.
