For widening the Thammanam-Pulleppady Road, Kochi Corporation and the district administration have jointly conducted an inspection for facilitating land acquisition. Mayor Tony Chammany and the District Collector PI Sheik Pareeth held a review of the project site between MG Road and C P Ummer Road on May 19.
Kochi Corporation has stated that in the first phase it would focus on widening the stretch between Padma Junction on MG Road and CP Ummer Road. Priority would be given for developing a road connecting Chittoor Road and CP Ummer Road. This would be followed by widening the stretch between Padma Junction and Chittoor Road. The widened road will have a width of 22 meters.
Officials concerned with the land acquisition said that after issuing the preliminary notification, the local body is now preparing the basic valuation report (BVR) for executing land acquisition. The report will be submitted before the district collector and will be evaluated by the deputy collector. Once the collector gives his approval, a district level purchase committee (DLPC) meeting will be convened, the officials said.
