Indian Railways and Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) have decided to participate in a Rs 2,000 crore rail-road connectivity project for the proposed new port at Sagar Island. KoPT will build the port at an estimated cost of a Rs 3,000 crore. Approximately 2,000 acres of land required for the project will be reclaimed from the sea.
