State-run NHPC has in a filing with BSE said that it has released L&T from performance of the contracts Lot SSL.2 and SSL.5 for building lower Subansiri Hydroelectric Project located on the border of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, as per the provisions contained in the contract conditions. Located near North Lakhimpur, the Subansiri Hydroelectric Project is the biggest hydroelectric project undertaken in India so far. Estimated cost of the 2,000-MW (8×250 MW) capacity project is Rs 6,285.33 crore (at December 2002 Price Level). It is now expected to be commissioned in December 2018.
