Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY), the Union government has sanctioned 4,675 km long 1,521 new roads costing Rs 1,780 crore to Madhya Pradesh. Following construction of these roads, 1,600 habitats will be linked by all-weather roads with development block, tehsil and district levels, an official release issued in Bhopal said.
The Union government has sanctioned maximum roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna to Madhya Pradesh Rural Roads Development Corporation during the current fiscal, the release said. With the fresh sanction of 4,675 km roads, the state has so far this year received nod for construction of 9,551 km long 2,758 roads costing Rs 3,653 crore.
State Panchayats and Rural Development Minister Gopal Bhargava said intensive efforts were underway for development of transport facilities in remote areas of the state.
As a result of the newly sanctioned roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna, 2,025 villages with upto 500 population, 1,278 villages with above 250 population and 340 habitats with below 250 population will be connected with all-weather roads.
