Nestle India has started routing its export shipments of noodles and sauces through the New Mangalore Port, the port said on September 26.

In a statement the port said in Mangalore that the company exported 11 containers of noodles to the UK and two containers to Australia from New Mangalore Port. In addition, six containers of sauces were sent to Canada.

Two vessels — MV Express Yamuna and MV Tiger Mango — handled these containers at New Mangalore. The statement said the Nestle India representative has assured the port of regular volumes of containers through it.

Speciality products manufactured at NestleÂ’s plants at Nanjangud and Mysore would be exported through the port, the statement said.

The port had handled container cargo of 25,053 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) till September 26 of 2013-14 as against 23,964 TEUs in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
