The launch happened nearly eight months after the Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi cleared extensive reforms in the space sector. These reforms are aimed at boosting private sector participation in the entire range of space activities. India is among a handful of countries with advanced capabilities in the sector. With these reforms, the sector will receive new energy and dynamism, to help the country leapfrog to the next stage of space exploration. Meanwhile, several promising homegrown startups are already involved in developing a variety of solutions in the area of space technology.
