By announcing a project to widen the Old Hazaribag Road in Ranchi of Jharkhand, the authorities concerned have created a feeling of relief to motorists and pedestrians who have been facing traffic problems on the road. The road stretches from Albert Ekka Chowk to Kokar Chowk in Ranchi.
Ranchi division of the roads department has approved a Rs 5.56-crore project last week to widen the 3.72 km road stretch with construction of footpaths on either side for safety of pedestrians on the busy road. Widening of the road would be completed within six months.
The Old Hazaribag Road is one of the busy roads of the city with shops on either sides and illegal parking of vehicles. In such a situation, motorists and pedestrians face too many traffic problems on this road. Even encroachments on the roads have made it further congested for the road users.
