To discuss over the prevailing hindrances to the progress of the greenfield airport at Panvel in Navi Mumbai, the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has convened a meeting in New Delhi on November 13. Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said this at a public meeting in Panvel on October 26.
The Navi Mumbai airport at Panvel site will provide an alternative to the Mumbai International Airport.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the unresolved issues related to the greenfield airport will be sorted out in the meeting. He termed the proposed airport a key infrastructure project.
He appealed to the local villagers to cooperate with the government, and said the airport will lead to area’s development and improvement in the standard of living of people.
