In Srinagar, the Chana Pora-Ram Bagh motorway is getting more of potholes with each passing day as the State Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department has failed to take remedial measures. The State government had announced that a flyover would be constructed from Jehangir Chowk upto Natipora enroute Ram Bagh. But the government finally clipped Ram Bagh-Nati Pora portion of the flyover though, as per observers, it needed the expressway connectivity more than elsewhere.
The Chana Pora-Ram Bagh road is a busiest road in the City. But the residents living along the busy road alleged that the government negligence didnÂ’t end there. Forget flyover, no macadamization is being done on this road, except for patch work, the residents lamented.
The bad road condition is furthering traffic mess on this busy route. Bad roads lead to slowing down of traffic which has a cascading effect and ultimately triggers traffic jams, admitted a Traffic Police official posted in the area. For now locals have erected caution flags on the potholes to keep them apprised about the conditions.
