The Union government has sanctioned a grant of Rs 6,000 crore for the 1,325 kilometre Trans Arunachal Highway project and work on the same is in full swing.
The Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region Pawan Singh Ghatowar said this on November 1 at a party rally in Doimukh to mark one year of the Nabam Tuki government in office.
Ghatowar noted that the problem of connectivity for the people of Arunchal Pradesh while travelling through Assam will be solved permanently once the project is complete. He said the Centre has also sanctioned Rs 383 crore for constructing 223 kilometre of roads in border areas and Rs 3,000 crore for double-laning of the existing road from Banderdewa to Hollongi across the state capital.
The Minister said that the Union government is supporting the proposal of the State government for all-weather roads in all untouched blocks and accordingly, the Minister has approached the ministries concerned for early sanction of fund.
Under PMGSY, construction of roads in 298 habitations out of 350 in the state has started, he said. He also assured to pursue with the ministry concerned for sanction of funds to construct the Doimukh-Hoj road, the lifeline for three districts of the state.
