India to have 51 new low-cost airports

AAI seeks Maha govt’s help to develop Juhu airport
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has sought Maharashtra governmentÂ’s help to lift the reservation of a general park on the plot to be utilised for the development of Juhu airport in Mumbai. For this, changes are required in the Development Control Rule (DCR). After the recent approval by the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation for a Rs 2,000-crore development plan, the AAI approached the State government on June 25 to discuss three issues with JK Banthia, Chief Secretary of Maharashtra.

The Goa government has asked the Dabolim airport, managed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in the state, to new permission from the it (Goa State government). The State government stated that the airport is running its terminal without valid consent to operate under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1974 and Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1981 since November 2011.
AAI set to get land for two airport expansion projects

AAI to build wall around its 2.5 acres land in T’puram
A vacant land belonging to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in Thiruvananthapuram will be secured with a compound wall. AAI has decided to construct a wall around 2.5 acres of land belonging to them in the south-eastern side of the Trivandrum International Airport, near the Arattu gate. The vacant plot is currently being used to park trucks belonging to a private cement company and as a playground by the children in the neighbourhood.
