Maharashtra mulls EPC model
The Maharashtra government considers a proposal to award the Rs 9,360-crore Mumbai Trans Harbor Link project on engineering procurement construction (EPC) model. The state government is considering EPC model after three failed attempts to award it under build-operate-transfer (BOT) route.
Federation suggests ports to avoid PPP projects
Water Transport Workers Federation urged the Chennai Port to develop the proposed mega container terminal of its own instead of awarding the project to a BOT or PPP (public private partnership) operator. This is one of the demands made by the federation in its representation submitted to the Union Shipping Secretary recently. AP govt takes steps for right of way to metro project

NHAI to award 4,000 km of roads in FY14
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) plans to award up to 4,000 km of roads through EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contracts in 2013-14, largely to overcome the funding issues in the BOT –– build, operate and transfer –– contracts. The authority still has to chart a plan for the BOT segment that generated a meek response from the companies.
Slowdown hits NHAIÂ’s projects
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) awarded a whopping 49 projects totalling 7,500 km last fi nancial year. But this fi scal, in the fi rst six months, the authority has managed to award just four projects measuring 560 km. NHAI attributes this situation to eco-denomic slowdown. Gammon gets NHAI project
Gammon Infrastructure Projects (GIPL) has bagged a Rs 1,684 crore project from National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for widening Vijaywada-Gundugolanu section of National Highway in Andhra Pradesh. GIPL has got the order on BOT (Toll) mode.The project will be built on design, build, finance,operate and transfer basis.

APSEZ to develop Kandla terminal
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has received the letter of intent from the Kandla Port Trust (KPT) to set up a dry bulk terminal at the Kandla Port on BOT basis.The company has emerged as the highest bidder on revenue share basis and has been awarded the concession in a competitive bidding scenario.
