Shale gas exploration bids by Dec 2013
Oil Minister S Jaipal Reddy said that India will launch its first-ever bid round for exploration of shale gas by December 2013. Six basins, namely Cambay, Assam-Arakan, Gondawana,KG onshore, Cauvery onshore and Indo Gangetic basins, have been identified that may have shale gas potential.
ONGC to develop 50 gas fields
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) plans to invest about Rs 26,000 crore in putting 50 onshore and offshore fields on production, 49 through inhouse efforts and one through service contract.
