Total global corporate funding in the solar sector, including venture capital/private equity (VC), debt financing, and public market financing, raised by public companies came to $9.1 billion in 2016, compared to $25.3 billion in 2015, a 64 per cent drop, clean energy consulting firm Mercom Capital has said.

Reliance Power and the Rajasthan government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to develop 6,000 MW of solar power projects in the State in the next ten years.

An initiative has been jointly taken by India and the United States to develop solar energy through photovoltaic (PV) projects and concentrated solar power (CSP), also known as solar thermal.
