JICA agrees to lend `200 bn for DFC
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) agreed to lend JPY 295 billion (about Rs 20,000 crore) for the two routes in the proposed Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) project. The agency would lend this amount under Special Terms of Economic articipation (STEP) between Japan and India. This is a soft loan with the repayment period of 40 years.

The Dedicated Freight Corridor is back on tracks with funding for the country's biggest infrastructure project tied up and more than half the land needed acquired.

The Union Cabinet has cleÂared the proposal for infusion of Rs 18,500 crore in the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC). The 1,483-km project running through seven states will come up along the proposed Delhi-Mumbai dedicated rail freight corridor.
