The Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ajit Singh said that India would be the third largest aviation market by 2020. The Minister was addressing senior representatives of the aviation industry in Delhi on the occasion of Aviation Day on March 26. India's airports would be handling 336 million domestic and 85 million international passengers with projected investment to the tune of US$ 120 billion by 2020.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit presented the budget for 2013-14 which pegged the overall outlay for the financial year at Rs 37,450 crore. While the state government allocated Rs 16,000 crore for plan expenditure, the total non plan expenditure has been proposed at Rs 21,000 crore
India for development of inter-country rail linkages
Indian government is committed to the development of inter-country rail linkages and in furtherance of this policy, it supports the development of Trans-Asian Railway Network, the Union Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said in Delhi on March 19. This network would provide a major land corridor for transport of people and goods across the frontiers of the member countries, Bansal said while speaking at the 7th meeting of Railways of South and South East Asian Countries.
Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai airports rated high by ACI
India's Delhi and Hyderabad airports managed by GMR Group and Mumbai airport by GVK Group have been rated high in respective categories in Airport Quality Service (ASQ) by Airports Council International (ACI) for 2012. The Indira Gandhi International airport at Delhi and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Hyderabad, both managed by GMR Infrastructure have secured second positions in respective categories.
Tata Communications to raise Rs 2,500 cr via asset sales
Tata Communications plans to sell properties across Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai to raise more than Rs 2,500 crore to raise capital in the wake of continuing losses, sourcs said. Tata Group's telecom arm, which reported net loss of Rs 201 crore for the third quarter ended December, has identified land parcels valued at over Rs 2,500 crore in these metros for monetisation.
Roads in rural Delhi areas will be developed: CM
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on March 2 stated on March 2 that the government has decided to improve all major road networks in rural areas including those in villages before the monsoon season. Dikshit said this after launching a road improvement project in Bawana area of North-West Delhi.
Rajasthan’s Neemrana may get a new airport
Rajasthan's Neemrana is going to have a new airport. The Union government is planning to set up the airport city near Neemrana, bang in between Delhi and Jaipur, a move that's likely to spur real estate and infrastructure development in the region. Over the last few years, Gurgaon has been expanding in the direction of Neemrana, with areas like Manesar already becoming hubs of industrial and housing activity.
IGI airport in Delhi wins International safety award
The IGI airport in Delhi, operated by Delhi International Airport (DIAL), has become the first Indian facility to bag the 'International Safety Award' from British Safety Council. This makes Indira Gandhi International airport (IGI), as the first and the only airport in India to win this prestigious award in field of health and safety.
Jet fuel price increased by 3.8%
Jet fuel prices were on February 28 hiked by 3.8 per cent, the second increase in rates in as many months. Aviation Turbine Fuel, or ATF, price at T3 terminal in Delhi was hiked by Rs 2,519.83 per kilolitre (kl), or 3.8 per cent, to Rs 70,080.87 per kl from midnight tonight, according to Indian Oil Corp, the nation's largest fuel retailer.
Delhi to have Vikaspuri-Meera Bagh elevated road
In Delhi, the Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated an elevated corridor from Vikas Puri to Meera Bagh on February 26. She had promised an elevated road to residents of Ayanagar. This corridor will be constructed at a cost of Rs 559.60 crore, including the construction of an elevated road from Vikaspuri to Meera Bagh.
