Residents of Kanpur are facing hardships due to the dilapidated condition of roads in the city. Especially dug up roads are bothering them a lot. One of the many unlevelled and the potholed stretches in the city is Kalpi road between Zarib Chowki and Fazalganj. The entire stretch of nearly 1.5 km is unlevelled ever since it was dug up for laying of sewage pipes under JNNURM scheme.

Repairs incomplete on dug up roads in Kozhikode
In Kozhikode, the September 30 deadline for repairs and re-surfacing of dug up roads has already been missed by the authorities concerned. And another deadline of October 18 has also been likely to be missed as there was no progress in the road repairs. The roads were dug up for laying pipes for the sewerage project under the Kerala Sustainable Urban Development Project.
Nagpur civic body to use new tech for road digging
To reduce damages to dug up roads in its purview the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is to adopt a technology called 'Horizontal Drilling Direction' (HDD) to cut roads. It will check subsequent deterioration of dug up roads, NMC has said. The new technology will cause less damage to the road surface. The NMC is currently implementing the duct policy to allow road digging works. Open surface digging causes a lot of physical stress to a road, which is not even reinstated properly, and reduces i
