With initiative of the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) medians on Hubli roads have finally got the much-needed facelift. To ease traffic movement in Hublic city's major roads HDMC had built medians on the roads seven years back through 10 private agencies on build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis.

Pamban road bridge in Rameswaram to get a facelift
A facelift is to be given to the Annai Indira Gandhi Bridge, or the Pamban road bridge that connects the mainland to the island town of Rameswaram. As part of silver jubilee year of the the bridge, the facelift is being planned at a cost of Rs 18.57 crore. Renovation work on the 2.345-km-long bridge, inaugurated by the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on October 2, 1988, was heralded by special puja and prayers during Wednesday and Thursday.

In Kottayam, MC Road's Chengannur-Muvattupuzha stretch of is all set to get a facelift with the second phase development work on the stretch likely to begin this May. According to KSTP officials, a global tender for the work will be notified by the end of this month. Currently, an eight-member team from the World Bank are in Thiruvananthapuram holding discussions with the KSTP officials about various works including works on the MC Road, which will be funded by the bank.
