This Union Budget came against the backdrop of a raft of reforms, economic slowdown and fiscal stress. While the Budget proposals will incrementally contribute to economic expansion with its de facto elements of stimulus, the pace of growth will largely be due to factors outside the Budget.

Solar Tenders witness drop in November
Solar tender and auction activity in India had a steep decline in November 2017. The solar capacity tendered across the country during the month fell by 25 percent to 300 MW compared to the October 2017 total and the amount of solar auctioned dropped by 98 percent to just 5 MW.
Capacit’e Infraprojects bags project worth Rs 825 crore
Capacit'e Infraprojects Ltd, has bagged a contract worth Rs 825.01 crore (excluding GST), from Arihant Abode Ltd, a subsidiary of Arihant Superstructures Ltd, for affordable housing project christened “Arihant Aspire” situated at Panvel, Maharashtra, in proximity to the proposed Navi Mumbai International Airport. The scope includes construction of civil & structural, finishing & MEP works to be executed in phases for 8 residential buildings of 42 floors each.

GST launch takes its toll on the June IIP numbers
The IIP number for the month of June 2017 came in sharply lower at -0.1% compared to 1.7% in the previous month of May 2017. A correction in the IIP was expected in the month of June due to the impact of the GST launch, although it was not expected to dip into negative territory.
