Maintenance of about 500 km length of roads in Hyderabad would soon be outsourced by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). In the first phase, main roads will be given for annual maintenance contract and would be extended to other roads in the later phases if it yields good results.

Air Costa to launch flights from Hyd on Dec 10
Regional airline from Andhra Pradesh Air Costa is starting its operation from Hyderabad from this December 10. Air Costa was launched in October by the LEPL Group. The airline is to operate flights from Hyderabad to Chennai, Vijayawada, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Bangalore.
Gayatri posts Rs 21-cr profit in Q2
Hyderabad-based Gayatri Projects has posted a net profit of Rs 20.84 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2013 against a profit of Rs 12.92 crore for the corresponding period last year.
Airport metro extension
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) may consider extending the airport metro corridor to IFFCO Chowk in Gurgaon so that the ridership as well as property development revenue of the line can be boosted. The proposal has been made by the Urban Development Ministry.
Hyderabad to get two road under bridges
As two road under bridges (RuBs) are expected to come up at East Anandbagh and Vajpai Nagar in Hyderabad, traffic woes of residents of Malkajgiri and surrounding areas may end soon. The roads and buildings (R&B) department and South Central Railway (SCR) will construct RuBs at East Anandbagh and Vajpai Nagar (Neredmet).
Coastal to restructure its Rs 3,700-cr debt
Coastal Projects company is reported to have decided to go for restructuring of its loans worth Rs 3,700 crore. With Rs 500 crore, State Bank of India has the highest exposure to the Hyderabad-based construction company.
AP’s 4 cities to get 737 low-floor Jnnurm buses
Under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewable Mission (JNNURM) scheme, people of Hyderabad, Visakhapatanam, Vijayawada and Tirupati will get 737 low-floor, semi low-floor buses of different kinds. The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) is going to launch the low-floor buses.
Officials asked to pace up road works in Hyd
Hyderabad Mayor M Majid Hussain has asked all zonal commissioners of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to complete patch works and pothole -filling on main roads by October 14.
Hyderabd Metro rail Stage 1 to be ready by 2015
Hyderabad is likely to ride on its first Metro rail on Ugadi day in 2015, the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMR) has stated recently. HMR Managing Director NVS Reddy said that stage I of the Rs 14,132-crore Metro Rail comprising a stretch of 8 kilometre, is most likely to be opened for public on Ugadi, the Telugu new year day, in 2015.
Rs 44 cr for Hyderabad Outer Ring Road development
In Hyderabad, Rs 44 crore will be spent on the maintenance of Outer Ring Road (ORR) stretches for the next three years. Stretches between Gachibowli and Shamshabad, Patancheru and Shamirpet and Shamirpet and Pedda Amberpet (nearing completion) will be taken up for road works.
