In Odisha, the all-weather Gopalpur port's first trial shipment took place a few days ago. An estimated 7,500 tonne of ilmenite, a sand mineral of Indian Rare Earths, was loaded on to a Chinese ship for shipment to Korea.
The Odisha Government in a Gazette notification has declared the port is ready for commercial operation.
