Shipbuilding sector wants infra status
The Government has received several critical suggestions from different stakeholders to promote the local shipbuilding industry, which includes grant of infrastructure status, financial assistance and tax sops, Parliament was informed.

Cabinet nod for Sagarmala project
The Government gave ´in principle´nod to Sagarmala project, which is aimed at port-led development in coastal states. ´The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, gave its ´in-principle´approval for the concept and institutional framework of Sagarmala Project,´ an official statement said.
SPVs for each smart city
A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) will be created for each smart city, Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said. Infrastructure deficit will be bridged by retrofitting of identified areas of a city and re-development of areas which are not amenable to retrofitting, a statement from the Ministry said.

Goa to get Rs.700 cr infra boost
In a major step to give a boost to the poor infrastructure in Goa, the Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has proposed to increase the budget of the state infrastructure development corporation (GSIDC)-the special purpose vehicle for such projects-to Rs 700 crore which is almost three times of the previous year.
AP expects over 100 new projects in 5 years
´The Andhra Pradesh Government is expecting 139 new infrastructure projects across the state over the next five years that would see an investment of $30 billion,´ said Ajay Jain, Secretary, Infrastructure and Energy.
GIDC to receive Rs.700 crore
Goa government has proposed to increase the budget of the Goa state infrastructure development corporation (GSIDC) to Rs 700 crore which is almost three times of the previous year.
