Odisha inland waterway to be ready in three years
The proposed inland waterway linking Kalinganagar industrial area, and eventually Talcher, to Paradip and Dhamra ports is to be ready in three years. The state government signing an MoU with the Inland Waterway Authority of India (IWAI) and the two ports in the state capital.

With an objective to increase its yearly cargo volume, Paradip Port Trust (PPT) is planning to host a business meet at Kalinganagar in October. PPT is to appeal to industrialists to utilise the port facility for import and export of their products and raw materials.
Banks offer Rs 228 bn funding commitment to steel project
A consortium of 21 banks has offered funding commitment of Rs 22,800 crore for Tata Steel Odisha's proposed greenfield 6 million tonne steel plant in Kalinganagar. According to Dealogic, global deal tracking firm, this is the largest project financing loan on record. The company plans to implement the project in two phases of 3 million tonne each. So far in 2013, the India project financing loan volume stood at $14.7 billion, 13 per cent higher than $12.
NINL commissions steel billet plant
Neelachal Ispat Nigam (NINL) commissioned its Rs 1,650 crore billet-making facility at Kalinganagar in Odisha. The company set up the facility to manufacture billet, which is a value added product compared to pig iron and which gives better sales realisations. Tata Steel expects to operationalise three million tonne steel plant in the first phase of its six million tonne greenfield steel project at Kalinga Nagar, by March 2014. This is despite the fact that the company has not been able to get raw material security for the project as allotments of mines are yet to come through. The project is co
