Shift of road work from BRO to Manipur PWD opposed
A memorandum has been submitted to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by expressing opposition to the Union government's decision to entrust construction work of Khongshang-Tamenglong road in Manipur to the State PWD from the Border Road Organisation (BRO).
Landslide-hit road in Imphal repaired
In Manipur's capital, Imphal, normal traffic movement along Mao-Lakhamai road, which was disrupted since past few days due to landslides at several places, has been restored on August 22. The sunk portions of roads were revamped, which is a great relief to the people of around 30 villages of Senapati district. The 45-km road is an important road of Karong AC next to NH-2 in the state.
Alternative route to NH-2 in Manipur’s Mahai lambi
In Manipur, the State government plans to develop an alternative route to National Highway No 2 in Mahai lambi (ML). In this regard, the State Works Minister Kh Ratankumar inspected ML on August 11. The NH No 2 passes through Mayang Imphal, Wabagai and Kakching Lamkhai. The matter of developing an alternative route to NH was also raised during a meeting of Chief Ministers and Works Ministers of North Eastern states held in Guwahati recently.
Six road projects in Manipur to be funded by ADB
Asian Development Bank (ADB) has sanctioned Rs 1,800 crore for development of roads and bridges in Manipur. The proposal for development of six roads has been sent to ADB. Some of these road project include 110-km long Imphal-Moreh Road on NH-2; 85-km long road from Imphal to Wangjing, Heirok and Khudengthabi; 34-km long ring road in Greater Imphal and road from Imphal to Kangchup.
Plea for speedy completion of road in Manipur
In Manipur, villagers of Taosang at Nungba Sub-Division under Tamenglong district have urged the State Public Works Department (PWD) to construct road and complete the bridge construction soon. Taosang Village Authority said in a press release that joint venture agreement between NHPC, India and State Govt was made for the construction of the Loktak Downstream Hydroelectric Power Project (LDHEP), NHPC at Taosang village.
Plea to complete repairs on Zelengbung-Sinakeithei road
Sagolmang Naga Students' Association (SANSA) in Manipur has appealed for finishing the development and renovation work on Zelengbung-Sinakeithei road stretch at the earliest possible. SANSA explained about the problems being faced by commuters on the stretch. Expansion of inter-village roads begins in Manipur
In Manipur, expansion of inter-village roads (IVRs) and district roads passing through Andro Assembly Constituency has kick-started from March 2 under the supervision local MLA Th Shyamkumar. It is said that all IVRs would be expanded up to 20 feet and district roads passing through the Assembly segment up to 60 feet. The road expansion has been taken up in view of the population growth.
