Economy grows sub-5% in July-September quarter
Union government's data shows that IndiaÂ’s economy expanded 4.8 per cent in July-September, the fourth straight quarter of sub-5 per cent growth. The major drags for this were slower expansion of government-supported services and continued contraction in the country's mining sector.

Preventing illegal mining
In order to curb irregularities in the mining sector, the section 23C of the MMDR Act, 1957 empowers states to frame appropriate rules. The Centre asked states to introduce rules under this section to prevent illegal mining, transportation and storage of minerals.
Faster implementation is imperative
The logistics sector grows at rates faster than GDP, and investment in logistics infrastructure needs to be made 10 years ahead of requirement,
