Complaint filed against unsafe ship anchoring in Goa

A police complaint has been lodged against the chairman of Mormugao Port Trust (MPT), Dy Conservator of Ports and the owner of the vessel MT Pratibha Bheema for disposing off the ship from the port and anchoring it 'unsafely' at the Panaji Port area, and dishonestly parting with the possession of the ship.

To establish a mechanised system for coal and coke handling facility at berth No 11 in Mormugao Port, the Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) has sought the approval of the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB). The estimated cost of the project is around Rs 200 crore and two million tonne of coal and coke would be handled per annum.

Goa asks MPT to take its permission for any construction

Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) will now have to obtain prior permission from the Goa government authorities.
