The NDA government has managed to save Rs 3 lakh crore worth bank loans to the road sector turning into NPAs, according to the minister of road transport and highways and shipping Nitin Gadkari.

States to get Central support for free power scheme
The Centre will extend financial support to states to enable them to offer new electricity connections free of cost to everyone.
The focus on EPC has given a fillip to road industry
The roads sector had witnessed an aggressive bidding during the financial year 2011 and 2012. Projects of over 11,000 km were awarded during these years. But the lack of proper governance affected the execution of most of these projects.
Roads To Recovery
The roads & highways sector is on a resurgent path, with fresh government initiatives for revival of projects, and new models such as hybrid annuity are expected to boost investor sentiment.
Rs.3.1 lakh cr worth Defence deals cleared; zero movement on ground
In the 17 months that the NDA government has been in power, the Defence Acquisition Committee (DAC) that vets all big-ticket deals has cleared projects worth a whopping Rs.3.1 lakh crore ($47 billion), but none of these are anywhere near closure.
From thought to action
If the change in governance at the Centre last year brought reason to cheer, the first year of the NDA government´s rule also showed that intent alone was never going to be enough.
Smart Cities Council India to launch Readiness guide on Smart Cities
In order to help the urban planners to carry forward the Smart Cities initiative, the Smart Cities Council India will launch Smart City Readiness Guide for India with 100 case studies in September 2015, it would be a vendor neutral framework for smart cities.
Govt links panchayats with broadband
The Central Government has completed the rollout of national optical fibre network in 20,000 village panchayats to provide high speed broadband connectivity.
Delhi Metro gets Rs.1,007 cr for phase-III
The NDA Government has allotted Rs 1006.64 as equity for the Phase III project of Delhi metro in the Union Budget recently, reflecting a hike of 22 percent with over Rs 4,200 crore being allotted to it.
Tax-free infra bonds for railways & roads
Moving ahead with NDA Government´s focus on building infrastructure, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in his budget speech announced introduction of tax-free infra bonds for railways and roads.´We have increased the budgetary allocation to roads & railways,´ said Jaitley.
