Fuel supply dues of NTPC

NTPC to import 15 mt of coal in FY15
NTPC has set a target of importing as much as 15 million tonne of coal in the next financial year (2014-15). The target may be lowered if Coal India increases its production. NTPC currently has an installed capacity of 42,964 MW, of which more than 37,000 MW is coal based.
GVK to exit Punjab power plant
GVK Power & Infrastructure is planning to sell its under construction 540 MW Goindwal Sahib power plant in Punjab to NTPC. The project expected to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2014-15, has a 25 year power purchase agreement with the Punjab State Power Commission.

BHEL bags Rs.7,900 cr order
BHEL has bagged a contract worth Rs 7,900 crore related to 1,980 MW thermal power project in Jharkhand. The contract, won through international competitive bidding, is for NTPC´s 1,980 MW North Karanpura super thermal power project. The plant will have three units, each having a generation capacity of 660 MW. Addl land for NTPC project
The West Bengal government decided to allot an additional 98 acre land and provide coal linkage with riders to NTPC´s proposed 1,600 MW plant, clearing two major hurdles for the project. This would help remove uncertainty over implementation of the proposed project at Katwa in Burdwan district, she said after a Cabinet meeting held outside Kolkata for the first time.
Unity Infraprojects bags contract
Unity Infraprojects has bagged two projects worth Rs 364.42 crore from MCGM and NTPC. The first project has been awarded is for a township package for Kudgi Super Thermal Power Project, Stage I (3x800 MV) by NTPC, valued at Rs 248.58 crore, which is to be completed within a period of 24 months. NTPC to construct power plant in MP
NTPC will construct a 2,640 MW power plant in Barethi in Chattarpur district of Madhya Pradesh (MP) at a cost of about Rs 18,000 crore. The project will comprise four unit of 660 MW each. According to Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Power Minister, the Barethi power project is an important milestone for the state as well as the entire country. The power project will help to make Bundelkhand one of the most prosperous regions of the state.
Revised tariff norms to have negatively impact
The revised tariff norms by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) will have a negative impact on the margins of state-owned utilities such as NTPC, Power Grid and NHPC according to Standard and Poor´s Ratings Services (S and P). CERC, in its final guidelines for tariff fixation, has shifted the incentive structure to plant load factor (PLF) from plant availability factor (PAF) for the period FY14-FY19.
