Public sector major Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has announced that there have been three new oil and gas discoveries in one each of the Krishna-Godavari Basin, Cauvery basin and Mumbai offshore, which allows an interim dividend of 100 per cent to its shareholders.

Anil Bhandari has taken over as Director (Exploration) of ONGC Videsh (OVL), the overseas arm of state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC). An M Tech in Applied Geology and a PhD from the Department of Geology of Rajasthan University, Bhandari has 34 years of experience in geosciences, management and R&D. Prior to joining the board of OVL, he led the operations in Sudan as Executive Director and Country Manager.

OVL net profit up by 72% on higher oil, gas output
On the back of higher output of crude oil and natural gas the overseas arm of State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) ONGC Videsh (OVL) has reported a 72 per cent jump in its net profit in the June quarter. In the April-June quarter its net profit rose by 71.9 per cent to Rs 837 crore from Rs 487 crore a year ago.

The firm's net profit in April-June quarter rose by 71.9 per cent to Rs 837 crore from Rs 487 crore in the same period a year ago, the company said in a statement in Delhi.
Power plants may get gas from new fields of ONGC, GSPC
By 2016, natural gas-based power plants may get about 6-10 million standard cubic feet per day (mscmd) of gas from the new fields of ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corp) and GSPC (Gujarat State Petroleum Corp). Supply of gas from these new fields may compensate partially the shortage of gas owing to reduction in output from Reliance Industries (RIL)Â’s KG-D6
Govt hiked gas price to hit power, fertiliser firms
As the Union government hiked gas price on June 28 will benefit a lot the government-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) and private major Reliance Industries (RIL), power and fertiliser companies will see their fuel costs shooting up substantially. As the power industry, a major consumer of natural gas, operates on the principle of pass-through of fuel costs to consumers, Indian consumers will have to shell out more for electricity, say analysts.
